Months back Stephen, Crispy & I went to a Jonathan Coulton concert in Atlanta. Footage Crispy & I shot at the concert is used in a Yahoo! People of the Web video profiling Mr. Coulton’s music, plus clips from Dragon*ConTV’s music video for Re Your Brains.

While Dragon*ConTV is all about Dragon*Con, we do have to give it up for other sci-fi conventions and their original thinking. Phoenix Comic Con is hosting their first annual Zombie Beauty Pageant (Jan 26-27). They will award three prizes:
- Miss Zombie Beauty 2008
- Miss Congeal-iality
- Miss Pathogenic
I love sci-fi conventions

Phil Searfoss, a member of the Dragon*Con Technical Operations (TechOps) staff passed away yesterday morning. Phil was a friend of many people at Dragon*ConTV, and even officiated the wedding of TechOps staffers Thomas & Barrie Kerns. He will be missed.

Taken 11-9-2007 @ the Five Spot in Atlanta, GA by Amy. L to R: Stephen (zombie action star), Jonathan Coulton (nerd troubadour), Brian (makes Stormtrooper videos in his basement), Crispy (once choked with a Wii-mote in my living room), Asai (hates having her photo posted on the Internet … sorry).

Stephen, Crispy and Brian will be at the Jonathan Coulton show tonight @ The Five Spot. We’ll have videocameras in hand, grabbing footage to submit to Yahoo! News or just use to make more content for this wacky podcast. Plus we have to meet the man who inspired this Dragon*ConTV video …

Great article on Dragon*Con 2007 Star Trek Programming (”TrekTrak“) at StarTrek.com.
First of all, kudos to Eric Watts, the Dragon*Con TrekTrak director, for putting on programming worthy of this glowing review. I’ve worked with the guy since the first day of volunteering for Dragon*Con and he puts everything into his show.
Second, check out page two of the article … there are two paragraphs about Dragon*ConTV near the bottom. From the article …
In the bigger rooms where video screens were set up to aid viewing of the celebrities, between events those screens displayed a variety of clever interstitial content produced by many Dragon*Con volunteers and friends which kept the gathering audiences laughing. The content included short videos such as an infomercial for Stormtrooper school, where you learn to miss every target you fire at, or an ad for a show called “The Simple Life: Ensigns,” where two ditzy cadets beam aboard the Enterprise and say things like, “Romulans … that’s hot” …
The crew at DCTV spends a lot of effort making sure people are entertained by our videos, so this is a great compliment to their work. Plus I learned a new word reading this article … “interstitial”

Dragon*ConTV showed a lot of great videos that were not produced by our volunteer crew. If you watched the in-house channel you may have seen these. Here’s a big pile of links to some cool content.

Now that the convention is over, we can return to sleeping
Brian Richardson here … Dragon*Con videography director & executive producer for Dragon*ConTV. The entire Dragon*ConTV crew appreciates all of the compliments and support we got for this year’s crop of new videos. Since we did not have great internet access at the convention (or the time to login) I will be posting videos this week as we unpack from Dragon*Con 2007.
Yes, we will post the Sithbusters intro to the Masquerade, our music video for Jonathan Coulton’s “Re Your Brains”, the Wii Safety Video and much more.
We had a blast and hope our videos made the convention’s long lines a bit more bearable. Thanks & we will see you again in 2008.

Hello, it’s 9:26am at Dragogon*Con and the videography director is awake. Why? So he can tell the Marriott to fix the &^%$ audio on the DCTV feed.
We are sending them audio with the video, and Hyatt Channel 42 has DCTV with audio. No worries, I will fix.

Ladies & gentlemen, the shameless solicitation for content begins … we’re making bumpers for Dragon*ConTV 2007.
If you want to ask Dragon*ConTV a question that will end up being shown at Dragon*Con, head over to LiveJournal and submit your question. Our resident mad scientist will use the highly scientific “this one be comedy” method to pick the questions we will answer in our “Adult Swim style” text bumpers.
The only prize in this “contest” is knowing that you’ve helped entertain several thousand sci-fi/fantasy fans who didn’t bother to bring anything to entertain themselves while waiting for a panel and have to watch our content.
Keep ‘em funny, keep ‘em clean(ish) and keep ‘em coming!

No matter what you think of war, you have to love the troops that volunteer to stand in harm’s way. Soldiers come from every walk of life, and a lot of them are proud sci-fi gamer geeks. One soldier is working to organize a gaming convention in Iraq: Ziggurat Con being held at Camp Adder/Tallil Airbase in Iraq on June 9. They need donations of games & game-related materials. Read the rest of the post for details on how to help.

Hello to all of the visitors wondering where the new content is … we’re working on it
Dragon*ConTV 2007 is in the script phase. Many of the staffers have annoyingly busy personal & work lives, but we’re getting ready to videotape teh funnay.
A big welcome to any visitors who found there way here from a Farpoint Media podcast (Slice of SciFi, Michael and Evo: Wingin’ It!, etc.). Thanks for stopping by. You can check out the video archives through the website, or just grab all the MP4 files in this directory to get caught up.
Anybody who is really desperate to hear from the DCTV-mindset can check our WhatTheCast? … a new podcast featuring Brian, Crispy, Doc & ChewToy from Dragon*ConTV.

We know there’s lots of Dragon*ConTV spots that people think are bad … we’d like to find out which ones you think are good. In honor of our impending 5th anniversary, we’re creating our first ever Best of Dragon*ConTV webpoll …
… it’s like the Oscars, except there’s no fancy dinner or star-studded gala event.
We want your nominations for “Best Bumper” and “Best Video”. Make a list for each (maximum of three per category) and send them our way.
Send your nominations to bestof@dragoncontv.com (nominations closed, e-mail address is dead now) by January 31, 2007 (once nominations close the e-mail address will be shutdown … sorry spammers). We will use the nominations to create a webpoll where you can vote for your favorite Dragon*ConTV videos & bumpers prior to Dragon*Con 2007.
FYI: Since public submissions are by e-mail only, comments on this entry are closed.

If dragoncontv.com seems slow, it’s because my webhost has recently experienced issues with network access speed … a recent router upgrade didn’t work out exactly as planned. They are having “discussions” with network engineers to sort out the problems, and expect the speed to improve soon. Apologies if this affects your ability to slack of at work using our videos
Update: the router upgrade seems to be complete. I’ll post the last of the Dragpn*ConTV 2006 videos shortly.

Dragon*Con 2006 was a blast! We at Dragon*ConTV had a great time, and we thank all con-goers for their kind comments. Apparently our silly videos were well received, so now we’re just encouraged to do it all again in 2007.
The 2006 videos will be posted over the next few days (there’s a lot of them). We need sleep, so please be patient. Subscribe to the RSS feed so you’re notified when new content arrives.
If you have any feedback (good or bad) for our merry band of video fools, please e-mail me (dctv at dragoncontv dot com).
